Mexico football coach Javier Aguirre apologized for a confrontation with a Panama player in Thursday's 1-1 draw with Panama in the Gold Cup, which triggered fights in the stands between rival fans.
With about 10 minutes to play in the game in Houston, Aguirre raised his leg and seemed to kick Panama forward Ricardo Phillips as he dribbled near the sideline. After a linesman stopped play, Phillips shoved Aguirre. Players converged in the area and several got into shoving matches.
